Description:

This striking piece is hand built stoneware and is titled 'Relic'. Inspired by the architecture of the historic buildings in Maine and the traditions of Japanese clay tomb figures and buildings, potter David Orser of Parsonsfield constructed this slab clay barn. The piece is highly textured in natural and earth tones of rust, brick and sand. It measures 15 inches long by 8 inches wide and 8 inches deep. The artist has recently received an award from the New Hampshire Institute of Art, and has had works shown at the Danforth Museum, the Shelburne Art Center, and the Center for Maine Contemporary Art. He is associated with Maine Potters Market in Portland.
