The golden eye of the osprey shines like a beacon in this fine gouache painting titled 'Osprey' by Julie Babb of Pemaquid. Against a transparent blue sky, the broad wings of the magnificent sea bird display their sinews and plumage. The soft white feathers of the underbody flow into the tail and wing feathers in alternate stripes of gray and white. The strong talons await a dive towards dinner, ready to grasp the hapless fish. This strong work is matted in soft grey under glass within a silver leaf wood frame measuring 18 by 25 inches. Artist and art teacher Babb has been recognized by numerous awards. She is represented by River Gallery of Damariscotta and the Pemaquid Gallery of Lighthouse Park.
