Description:

This masterful oil on canvas by Portland artist Michael Waterman is titled ‘Disposition’. The broad shouldered subject stands in an urban environment, dressed in working shirt and jacket in tones of sage and rust. His neck and head, uplifted, are aglow and draw our attention to the golden sky.  Figures float above him, hovering in a semicircle which hints at a halo. The distant buildings glow with the reflected hue of the sky, while the nearer structures are in moss green, outlined in brown. This work is within a gold washed sculpted wood frame of 17 by 21 inches donated by Harbor Square Gallery of Rockland. Mr. Waterman has been praised by art critics Beem and Isaacson, and has had a major retrospective at the University of Southern Maine Gallery. He is represented by Harbor Square Gallery of Rockland.
