Description:

Artist Francis Hamabe painted in Blue Hill and lived from 1917 to 2002. In tones of blue and black, memories of Blue Hill unfold from the sails of the sloop to the galleries and shops, woods, domestic animals and all the activities that make a community.  This work is matted in white with a black liner under glass and measures 27 by 34 inches. The artist was inspired by the Maine coast, and his murals grace the Eastern Maine Medical Center and Southwest Harbor Medical Center. He taught painting in the University of Maine System at the Machias and Orono campuses.
