Description:

'Whispers' is the name of this fine textured work in mixed media by artist Lissa Hunter of Portland. The window displays an oval container, perhaps holding the secrets hinted at by the title. The materials include paper, medium density fiberboard, paint, graphite, waxed linen thread and rawhide. The colors are muted in sand and gray with green accents. This work is 9 inches square and 3 inches deep, and is pictured on page 111 of the accompanying book, Lissa Hunter-Histories Real and Imagined. Artist Hunter is represented by June Fitzpatrick Gallery. Her work has appeared widely in one person and group shows from Santa Fe to New York City. Her creations are in major collections including the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Albequerque Museum and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
