This wonderful photograph by Canadian photographer John England and titled 'Homecoming' invites us into an enigmatic world. A young woman in period dress carries a young female. As she steps from the train, our eyes note that each female has different features, whether hair color or complexion. The woman looks confident, wearing an enigmatic smile, while the youngster looks shy and uncertain. Who is there to meet them? There is fine perspective and composition, with the lines of the train, at once receding in one direction in reverse serving to widen and focus on the human subjects of this story. This fine work is matted in white under glass within a satin black frame measuring 24 by 42 inches. Photographer England focuses his camera on the vast landscapes and seascapes of Canada and the stories of its people.
