Description:

Light energizes the fine acrylic on birch panel by Philip Frey of Sullivan. As the storm clouds lift, and the sky progresses from dark to light blue, the sun performs its magic.  The horizon is framed in soft pink, while the brilliant rays color the sea a creamy white with subtle reflections of pink and yellow.  The gray-brown foreground boulders soften in the reflected light.  This work is within a deep natural maple float frame of 13 by 17 inches. Frey’s bold, rich colors and sense of movement awaken us to the present and inspire a sense of place. Artist Frey is represented by the Firehouse Gallery of Damariscotta and the Courthouse Gallery of Ellsworth.  His work is in major private and corporate collections, the Abbe Museum of Bar Harbor and the Maine Marine Museum.
