There is fine color sense and detail in this opaque watercolor. Three sea urchins are set as large gems among smaller jewels of sea glass in pink, sapphire, emerald, aquamarine and brown. The detail of the spines and the interior anatomy is stunning, in colors of soft green and lavender. This work is framed in a distressed and weathered gold frame of 12 by 23 inches with a bit of gold sea glass spilling onto the white matte. Artist Carpenter displays her works, which glorify the beauty and intricacy of nature, at her own studio near Cape Porpoise and the Archipelago Gallery in Rockland.
