Description:
This fabulous example of the ancient woodcarving and inlaying craft of marquetry incorporates redwood, oriental wood, East Indian rosewood, mahogany and curley maple. The clipper ship 'Glory of the Seas,' its pennant flying, climbs a wave on its way to a distant port. This fine work measures 14 by 19 inches within its walnut frame. Artist Babb is represented in Maine by Island Artisans Galleries in Bar Harbor and Northeast Harbor, Pemaquid Art Gallery at Pemaquid Point, Archipelago Gallery of Rockland and the Salt River Artisans Gallery in Boothbay.
