This pastel close up of the Northern Flicker conveys all of the salient features of this handsome bird. The eye is a pool of black surrounded by soft feathers in earth tones of gray and sand. A vibrant triangle of red points to the observant eye. This colorful work is matted in white under glass within a natural cherry wood frame of 11 by 12 inches. Artist Plante's works have been shown in the Bates, Colby and Farnsworth Art Museums and galleries throughout Maine and the Northeast.
