Description:

Strong colors set the tone of this fine oil on canvas by Richard Erikson of Eastport titled ‘Solitude, North Wales.’ Deep shadows of vibrant purple are cast from the ancient stone walls and stone cottage perched by the seaside.  The golden stones are matched in radiance by the lush green growth on the fields and opposite island.  The purple shadows also flow into the azure water, along with the blue thread of the stream in the foreground.  This work is within a wide golden frame measuring 21 by 25 inches. Artist Erikson honed his artistic skills over a thirty year career as a social sciences and visual arts teacher in Washington State and California, always working to integrate the arts into the full academic curriculum.
