The MPBN Great TV Auction Needs Your Help
Coming May 2 - May 11, 2008
The Maine Public Broadcasting Network is now accepting donations of items in preparation for the 37th Annual MPBN Great TV Auction. Pieces of art, gift certificates, vacation getaways, furniture, toys and even cars have been donated to help MPBN raise money for public broadcasting. Every little bit helps!

There are a variety of ways to participate in the MPBN's major fund-raising event. Merchants,
manufacturers,
artists, crafts persons, antique dealers and others from Maine
and
beyond donate products, gift certificates and one-of-a-kind objects to support
the excellent standard of programming on radio and television stations of MPBN. Donors can receive print, TV and Web promotion. Businesses
can also support the Auction through sponsorships.
Make a donation
at one (or more) of the following levels.
All Donations receive
television promotion plus inclusion in The MPBN Great
TV Auction Buyer's Guide, distributed
statewide.
$70 - $299 Merchandise and
certificates are shown one time with two recaps. Donations of
several identical
items/certificates
with a
minimum value of $35 each are sold together to the highest bidder(s).
$300
- $999 Digital images of the item(s) are shown
two times with multiple recaps. The item description can be written by the donor
or the
Auction staff. Donations
of two to three identical items/certificates totaling $300 or more are sold together to the highest
bidder(s).
$1,000 – OVER Through an MPBN-produced promotional video, merchandise and
certificates are
shown two or more
times during one
or more nights of the televised Auction, plus multiple recaps.
All packages totaling $1,000 or more will be promoted
on the Maine Public Broadcasting Network Web site and offer
a link to the donor's Web site. Donations of two to three
identical
items/certificates totaling $1,000 or more are sold together to the highest
bidder(s).
Cash Donations
Friends of
the Maine Public Broadcasting Network who are not in a business with “sellable” items
(such as professionals, private citizens, etc.)
can still be donors to Auction. You will receive
on-air recognition for
cash donations
of $70 and greater or you can donate an item or gift certificate in your name from your favorite restaurant or other business. This recognition credit includes your name and location.
You may also
choose to
remain anonymous.

Non-Auction Items
It takes
many kinds of generous supporters to make The MPBN Great TV Auction successful. Print services,
food and beverages
for
our volunteers,
storage and transportation of donations, and office, packing and shipping supplies are examples of the
"behind-the-scenes" donations we need. Contributions of these types of goods and services valued at $70 and greater receive on-air recognition.
“ Big 10” Items
"Big
10" Donors contribute something for every night of the Auction and are identified as "Big 10" donors on television and in the Buyer’s
Guide! "Big 10" Donors contributing $1,000 worth of items or certificates are listed with a full page ad on the MPBN Web site with links to the donor's Web site.
