  • In 1997, nonresident visitors to Maine directly and indirectly generated:
    • $7.7 billion in sales of goods and services.
    • 101,000 jobs.
  • Tax Revenues from out of state visitors reached $312 million in 1997.

Trips to the Coast in 1997:

  • Southern Maine Coast: 3.5 million trips.
  • Mid Coast: 2.1 million trips.
  • Downeast Acadia: 1.8 million trips.
