The Nichols-Bass Business & Technology Center opened in 2004 . The earliest occupants were Nichols Custom Trailers, New England Orthotics and Diabetic Shoe Co. which together occupy one-third of the available 300,000 square footage.  In February 2006, ICT Group, a global company that provides support services to corporations, announced plans to expand its call center and add between 50 and 60 jobs.

More than half of the jobs lost when G. H. Bass closed have been replaced through new businesses moving into the complex. Nichols Development hopes to have 700 people employed at the site by 2010.
