Joan Baez thrilled a packed Waterville Opera House on Monday, March 24th with songs by a wide variety of artists including Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, Steve Earle, Tom Waits, Robbie Robertson and Elvis Costello, and delivered over 90 minutes of unforgettable music, humor and stories that MPBN is happy to make available here now through April 25th.
Under an arrangement between MPBN, Joan Baez’s management and the show’s presenters, Waterville Main Street and Der Simonian Consulting, the concert will be available for one month after the show as streaming audio for home or office computers outfitted with Windows Media Player.
“MPBN is committed to getting out into the communities of Maine and making available to a broader worldwide audience some of the great music and cultural events that take place here,” says MPBN President and CEO Jim Dowe.
“We can’t thank Joan Baez enough for allowing MPBN to offer a special night of music free to the world, and for our part we’re happy to assist Waterville Main Street’s efforts to promote downtown revitalization through support of music and the arts,” he added.
This was the second concert at the Waterville Opera House in three months that MPBN “webcast” exclusively through its Web site, independent of its traditional radio and television broadcast outlets. MPBN offered a live stream of the Rustic Overtones performance there on December 29th, and the audio is still available online.
As you’re listening, remember that it’s the generous support of members like you that make modern innovations like this possible. Thank you!
