Sardine Fishing: Easport, Maine 1930's

Eastport is considered by many to be the birthplace of the sardine canning industry.  Once plentiful, this fish put Eastport on the map and this film clip shows the astronomical number of fish that could be harvest in a short period of time back in 1932.  At one time Eastport was the leading sardine exporter in the world.  Sardines are still processed in Eastport but only at a fraction of the numbers seen in this film clip.
