FairPoint is now the phone company for most Mainers, but the full transition from Verizon, called the “cutover,” has been delayed. This announcement came in the midst of problems with three 911 communications centers. What does this all mean for Maine citizens? Will FairPoint be ready to handle Maine’s phone lines in November? And what kind of broadband service can rural areas expect, and when? We ask FairPoint’s CEO Gene Johnson and Maine Public Advocate Richard Davies these questions and more.
