The Maine state government faces a projected budget shortfall of nearly $200 million. Legislators are trying to balance the state budget without raising taxes, but that means severe cuts to programs many people depend upon, including foster care, elderly services and education.
Jennifer visits some of the people who will be affected by proposed budget cuts: seniors in Westbrook and Saco, as well as a foster family in Sabattus.
Also, veteran statehouse reporters Mal Leary, Rebekah Metzler, and MPBN's A.J. Higgins discuss the budget news emanating from Augusta with Jennifer.
This week on Maine Watch, a look at the impact of proposed cuts and possible solutions.
