Barbara Vickery

Barbara Vickery has been with the Maine Chapter of The Nature Conservancy since 1983 and is currently the Director of Conservation Programs. She is responsible for the selection, design and conservation strategy for all Conservancy projects in Maine. She also oversees the stewardship department and community based conservation program at Cobscook Bay. Currently she is participating in a cross-ecoregional team seeking to advance conservation strategies for the Northern Appalachian/Acadian ecoregion (a landscape stretching from the Adirondacks through Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and the Canadian Maritimes). Prior to joining the Conservancy, she was Botanist for the Maine State Planning Office, a botanical research assistant at Bates College and a kindergarten teacher and farmer in northern Maine. Ms. Vickery received her BS degree in Biology from Bates College and a BA degree from Harvard College.
