One of the many public affairs lecture series we present weekdays at 1:00 pm, "Speaking in Maine" features diverse speakers recorded in towns and cities throughout the state of Maine. The program is produced by MPBN's Barry Darling and Gordon Fellis.

Executive Director of the Jung Educational Center of Houston

The speaker is the Dr. James Hollis,
Jungian Analyst and the Executive Director of the Jung Educational Center of Houston. He is also the author of "Why Good People Do Bad Things: Understanding Our Darker Selves." In an address recorded recently at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, he explores the energies, motives and agendas operating outside our conscious control that are sometimes contrary to our professed values.

Dr. Joel K. Goldstein, Professor at St. Louis University School of Law

The speaker is Presidential scholar Dr. Joel K. Goldstein from St. Louis University School of Law, speaking at the University of Southern Maine on the role of the Vice Presidency in presidential elections, with a focus on former Maine Senator Edmund Muskie’s 1968 candidacy on the Democratic ticket with Hubert Humphrey. Best known for his work on the vice presidency, Professor Goldstein has consulted on vice presidential selection and is often interviewed on the subject. Dr. Goldstein currently holds a joint appointment as a visiting research professor at USM's Muskie School of Public Service and University of Maine School of Law and is researching former Maine governor, U.S. senator, U.S. Secretary of State and 1968 vice-presidential candidate Edmund S. Muskie. |

Raimondo often presents his brand of libertarianism and anti-war sentiment to audiences on college campuses and at national political events. |
