On Monday, April 30, 2007, MPBN Music Director and "Live at Eleven" host Elena See welcomed three of Maine's most talented young musicians to MPBN's Bangor studio (read more about them here):
Heather Thomas (violin), a home-schooled junior from Belgrade;
Marlene McCarthy (piano), a junior who attends Hall-Dale High School in Hallowell; and
Rachael Townsend (piano), a first-year student at Coastal Christian High School in Waldoboro. The three placed first, second and third, respectively, in the 26th Annual Bangor Symphony Orchestra Maine High School Concerto Competition, which took place February 24, 2007. The BSO competition was established in 1982 as a vehicle to recognize and encourage outstanding young Maine musicians.
