Senator Hillary Clinton and Senator Barack Obama were both in Maine on Saturday, February 9. Clinton spoke at "town hall" style meetings in Lewiston and Orono, while Obama attended a rally at the Bangor Auditorium. The candidates were in Maine in advance of Sunday's Democratic caucuses in the state, and each urged their supporters to caucus for them. MPBN recorded both candidates' speeches, and we're happy to make them available as streaming audio and as podcasts.

Evaluate the Candidates, Make Your Decisions
Select A Candidate is a fun web-based tool that helps you learn which presidential candidates' views most closely align with your own. Take this fun survey now, which was developed by American Public Media.
Hear and Compare the Candidates' Positions on Health Care
Voters have identified health care as a leading domestic issue for the government to address and for the presidential candidates to discuss in the 2008 campaign. In particular, voters would like to hear the candidates' positions on reducing the cost of health care and health insurance and expanding coverage to the 47 million uninsured Americans.
In late 2007, the Kaiser Family Foundation created a helpful web site (http://www.health08.org) for voters who want to know the candidates' respective positions on health care. With archived video and podcasts of the candidates discussing their positions, customizable side-by-side comparisons of any combination of candidates the site visitor cares to select, and an ongoing tracking poll, there's something on this site for even the wonkiest political junkie.

Superdelegates May Not Feel Obligation to Follow Rank and File
Reported By: A.J. Higgins Date Aired: 2/11/2008
The dust is clearing from the stampede of Maine Democrats who turned out in unprecedented numbers for the February 10 statewide caucuses. And although Sen. Barack Obama picked up 15 of Maine's 24 delegates to the Democrtatic National Convention, there is still an opportunity for Hillary Clinton to improve on her nine-delegate total. That's because Maine has 10 superdelegates who are free to cast their votes for whomever they choose. As A.J. Higgins reports, some may be surprised to learn that, for the moment, prominent superdelegates like Gov. John Baldacci do not feel obligated to honor the popular choice of Maine's rank-and-file Democrats.
