Maine Flags Lowered for Navy Yard Shooting Victims

Gov. Paul LePage says in a statement that all Maine residents' prayers and condolences go out to the victims of the shooting and their families.

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) _ Maine Gov. Paul LePage has ordered that flags on all public buildings and grounds will be flown at half-staff this week in honor of the victims of the shooting at the Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.

The Republican governor says that the flags will be lowered on Tuesday until Friday at sunset.

LePage says in a statement that all Maine residents' prayers and condolences go out to the victims of the shooting and their families.

A defense contractor employee and former Navy reservist killed 12 people at the Navy Yard installation on Monday before he was slain in a gun battle with police.
