"Ron Cain is the new majority owner of the team," says team spokesman Chris Knoblock. "He's been a minority investor of the team for a number of years and he's now the majority owner."

Knoblock also confirms that Cain is an investor in the company that manages the team's current home venue, the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston.

Knoblock would not comment on how the move might affect an ongoing legal distpute between the Pirates and their former landlord, the Cumberland County Civic Center.
