Barclaycard to Expand, Add 100 Jobs in Maine
08/27/2013 02:21 PM ET

Barclays says the jobs are full-time and include benefits such as health and dental insurance.

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) _ Barclays is expanding its credit card businesses operations in Maine, which is expected to bring 100 new jobs to the state by the end of the year.

Republican Gov. Paul LePage and Barclays officials announced the expansion of the Barclaycard customer contact facility in Wilton on Tuesday.

Barclays says that there will be 250 total employees by the end of the year. Another 100 new jobs are expected to be added by the end of 2014.

Employees at the center provide customer support for Barclay's credit card holders. Barclays says the jobs are full-time and include benefits such as health and dental insurance.

LePage says the state still needs to do more to extract new businesses, like lower taxes and eliminate red tape.
